5, 4, 3, 2, 1! Be prepared to count down toward the New Year on the evening of 31 December!
In the Gregorian calendar, 31 December is the last day of the year, and the New Year’s Eve will take place on 31 December evening. In many countries, New Year’s Eve will be celebrated with parties or social gatherings with families and friends, where they will eat, drink, dance, and play various games. The party could be held at home, the office, neighborhood, and even in shopping malls and town squares. During the party, it is also common to have a reflection on the current year, and a wishing for the incoming year. People will also share their resolutions for the next year. Some Christians will attend a watch night service. Television stations will broadcast special New Year’s shows.
In the seconds leading to the New Year, people will have a count down together. And when the clock strikes midnight on 31 December evening, people will cheer aloud, blow trumpets, and the night sky will be lit up with many fireworks that last until the early hours of the New Year’s Day on 1 January.
One way of celebrating the New Year is by sharing the spirit by congratulating friends, families, neighbors, and loved ones on achieving their resolutions for the current year, or even giving them a gift for the feat! You could also wishing them a success on achieving the next year’s resolution, even offering them help in fulfilling the resolutions!
For this New Year’s Eve, Adora, Celly, and Uni-Q’s resolution is to keep sharing with you the different kinds of festivity in different cultures, religions and countries in our beautiful world. So keep telling us your favorite activity, or share your most memorable celebration, for this year’s New Year’s Eve and many other festivities to come!
