Eurovision Song Contest, or simply called Eurovision, is a TV song competition that has been running since 1956. It is the longest-running annual international TV song competition. Eurovision is held primarily between members of European Broadcasting Union (EBU). In 2018, the 63th Eurovision takes place for the first time in Portugal, following the country’s first victory at the 2017 contest in Kiev, Ukraine. The grand final of Eurovision is to be held on 12 May 2018 in Altice Arena, Lisbon, Portugal.

On 5 May people of Mexican ancestry will celebrate Cinco de Mayo, which means literally Fifth of May. Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican Army’s difficult victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla, on 5 May 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza. Cinco de Mayo is celebrated in Mexico, the United States, also in other countries with significant Mexican population.

International Workers’ Day, or commonly known as Labor Day or Workers’ Day or May Day, is celebrated on 1 May. It is a celebration of laborer and working classes, and is promoted by international labor movements. Labor Day is a national public holiday in many countries. Some countries celebrate Labor Day on other dates that are important to them.

Our woman hero of April is Raden Adjeng Kartini! Kartini, who was born on 21 April 1879, is Indonesian national woman hero from Java. She was the first who fight for girls’ education and woman’s right in Indonesia. For those merits, 21 April is established as Kartini’s Day and is a national holiday in Indonesia.
