Gather up, Trekkies! Let us celebrate the Star Trek Day on 8 September!

The first television series was called Star Trek and now are referred to as “The Original Series“. It follows the interstellar adventures of a crew aboard a starship, which is a space exploration vessel. The television series were first aired on 8 September 1966. That is why Star Trek Day is celebrated on 8 September.

Since 1966, the Star Trek franchise has included The Original Series, an animated series, five spin-off television series, the film franchise, and further adaptations in several media, and has become a cult phenomenon. Fans of the franchise are called Trekkies. Star Trek is noted for its cultural influence beyond works of science fiction. The franchise is also noted for its progressive civil rights stances. The starship crew are always portrayed as coming from different races and genders, both humans and aliens.

The Star Trek television series are also well-noted for its voice-over introduction, voiced by the starship’s Captain, during each episode’s opening credits that stated the starship’s purpose. It started with “Space – the final frontier…” and ended with the starship’s mission: “… to boldly go where no one has gone before.”

Star Trek Day is usually celebrated by a gathering of Trekkies. Trekkies will come to the Star Trek 2018 Spock-01event by wearing the uniform or costume of their favorite character from the Star Trek franchise. Star Trek-themed snacks are also served. Do not have any Trekkies gathering near you? No worries! You could still celebrate Star Trek Day at your home by binge-watching the television series, reading the books, playing the games, and many more Star Trek-inspired activity.
