Are you ready? WrestleMania 35 will take place on 7 April 2019 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The event is set to include the first-ever women’s main event in WrestleMania history. Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch will face each other in a winner takes all triple threat match for both the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championships.
WrestleMania is a professional wrestling event produced annually between mid-March to mid-April by WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc.), an American professional wrestling promotion based in Stamford, Connecticut. WWE first produced the event in 1985 and has since produced 34 editions.
Nicknamed The Showcase of the Immortals, WrestleMania is WWE’s flagship event, airs on pay-per-view (PPV) and the WWE Network and is the most successful and longest-running professional wrestling event in history. It contributes to the worldwide commercial success of WWE through media, merchandise, and shows.
WrestleMania was conceptualized by WWE owner Vince McMahon and long time WWE ring announcer and Hall of Famer Howard Finkel is credited with devising the name “WrestleMania” in 1984. WrestleMania ranked the sixth most valuable sports brand in the world by Forbes and having been described as the Super Bowl of sports entertainment.
As is WrestleMania tradition, multiple celebrities will take part in WrestleMania 35. Colin Jost and Michael Che of Saturday Night Live (SNL) will be special correspondents for the event, and were later entered into the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Joan Jett will perform her song “Bad Reputation” live for Ronda Rousey’s ring entrance. Gospel music star and syndicated radio host Yolanda Adams will perform “America the Beautiful” to kick off the main card of WrestleMania.
The two official theme songs for WrestleMania 35 are “Work” (by Chris Classic) and “Love Runs Out” (by OneRepublic).
WrestleMania 35 card will include matches that result from scripted storylines, in which wrestlers portray heroes, villains, or less distinguishable characters to build tension, culminating in a wrestling match or series of matches. Results are predetermined by WWE’s writers on the Raw, SmackDown, and 205 Live brands, with storylines produced on their weekly television shows, Monday Night Raw, SmackDown Live, and the cruiserweight-exclusive 205 Live.
