Internationale Spieltage SPIEL is an annual four-day boardgame trade fair which is also open to the public and held in October (Thursday to the following Sunday) at the Messe Essen exhibition centre in Essen, Germany. Also often called the Essen Game Fair, it is the worldwide biggest fair for board games. The SPIEL started in 1983, and since then has gained a worldwide fame as an occasion where passionate board gamers can meet and chat with game designers, illustrators, and famous game reviewers. Adorageek started out on 2017 as a humble projects between three sisters to understand and celebrate different kinds of festivity in different cultures, religions and countries around the world, and also to cherish the fantastical world of imagination. A year has passed and Adorageek has grown, thanks to all of you who has supported us throughout this wonderful journey, by reading and sharing our posts and illustrations.

We at Adorageek strive to continue to share more celebrations and festivities from all corners of the world, and maybe even from the outer space and beyond! So, if you have any celebration that you think we should include here, let us know!

Artists, have you participated on this year’s Inktober? Inktober is a drawing challenge taken by artists all around the world by doing one ink drawing a day for the entire month of October. Inktober is created by artist Jake Parker in 2009, to improve inking skills and develop positive drawing habits. The film week features a program consisting of films that have been screened and awarded at leading world film festivals, such as Oscar nominees in the Foreign Language category, as well as highly anticipated new productions. It is October and Oktoberfest is already in full swing! Oktoberfest is the world’s largest Volksfest, a large event in Germany that usually combines a beer festival and travelling funfair. Oktoberfest is held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, and usually lasts for 16 to 18 days, from mid or late September to the first week of October. Locally, Oktoberfest is often called the Wiesn.
