Hero of January: Joan of Arc

Joan of Arc only-01Hear ye, hear ye! Starting this year, Adorageek will also celebrate the life of woman heroes. We have so many remarkable women out there that have always been parts of the great history of the world. They are notable figures to be look upon to; their acts, contributions, and roles inspire us even until today. So every month, Adorageek will celebrate the life of a woman hero who was born in that respective month. You will see heroes from different walks of life, from science to arts to politics; and Adorageek has especially chosen different heroines to represent the diversity of human culture and ethnicity. They are as colorful as we all are!

Tulips-01The Netherlands Nationale Tulpendag  or National Tulip Day will be celebrated on 20 January, to officially inaugurate the start of tulip season in the Netherlands. Tulip is Holland’s trademark flower, and the tulip season will last from January to April, when many varieties of tulip will bloom and be ready to be sold or auctioned in florist, supermarkets, and flower stands. The International Kite Festival, called Uttarayan, will be held on 14 January until 15 January at Ahmedabad, the Kite Capital of Gujarat, India. The festival of Uttarayan marks the Makara Sankranti, the day when winter begins to turn into summer according to the Indian calendar. Makara Sankranti is the most important harvest day in India, because it is the sign for farmers that the sun is back and harvest season is approaching. Continue reading
