Boy2-01Scouts’ Day or Guides’ Day is a generic term for special days observed by members of the Scouting movement throughout the year. Some of these days have religious significance, while others may be a simple celebration of Scouting. Typically, it is a day when all members of Scouting will re-affirm the Scout Promise. In the United Kingdom and Denmark, 23 April is celebrated as Saint George’s Day. As Saint George is the patron saint of Scouting, 23 April is also celebrated as Scouts’ Day there. Continue reading

According to Christianity belief, Jesus will be resurrected on the third day of his burial after his crucifixion by the Romans. It is a 1963 children’s picture book by American writer and illustrator Maurice Sendak, originally published by Harper & Row. The book has been adapted into other media several times, including an animated short in 1974 (with an updated version in 1988); a 1980 opera; and a live-action 2009 feature-film adaptation, directed by Spike Jonze. Hero of April: Gabriela Mistral

Women April 2019 Figure - Gabriela Mistral-01Our woman hero of April is Gabriela Mistral! She was a Chilean poet-diplomat, educator and humanist. In 1945 she became the first Latin American author to receive a Nobel Prize in Literature, “for her lyric poetry which, inspired by powerful emotions, has made her name a symbol of the idealistic aspirations of the entire Latin American world”. Some central themes in her poems are nature, betrayal, love, a mother’s love, sorrow and recovery, travel, and Latin American identity as formed from a mixture of Native American and European influences. Her portrait also appears on the 5,000 Chilean peso bank note.

April Fool 2019 Calendar-01Be prepared, friends! We will celebrate April Fool’s Day on 1 April! Sometimes called April Fools’ Day, it is an annual celebration commemorated on April 1 by playing practical jokes or harmless pranks and spreading hoaxes. The jokes and their victims are called April fools. People playing April Fool jokes often expose their prank by shouting “April fool(s)” at the unfortunate victim(s).
